Early detection saves lives. Diabetes Network of Arizona partners with schools, communities, and healthcare providers to offer education, screenings, and resources that help identify diabetes early and connect families to the care they need.

ASK Study

You are likely eligible for ASK (Autoimmunity Screening for Kids). ASK is a free, research-based program that screens for T1D and celiac disease.

  • For people 1 to 99 years old

  • No family history of T1D required

  • No current or past diagnosis of diabetes

TrialNet

You are likely eligible for TrialNet. TrialNet is a free, research-based program that provides screening for people with a family history of T1D.

  • For people 2 to 45 years old with a first-degree relative (parent, child, sibling) with T1D.

  • For people 2 to 20 years old with a second-degree relative (cousin, grandparent, aunt, uncle) with T1D.

  • For people 2 to 45 years old with a positive T1D autoantibody test outside of TrialNet

Talk to Your Doctor

For all individuals, your healthcare provider may be able to order the following labs to detect T1D antibodies, and the cost may be covered by your insurance. Consider contacting your insurance company regarding coverage prior to testing.

  • Insulin Autoantibody (IAA): CPT 86337

  • GAD Autoantibodies: CPT 86341

  • IA-2 Autoantibodies (IA-2A): CPT 86341

  • Zinc Transporter 8 (ZnT8) Autoantibody: CPT 86341
